How to Edit an Image in an Article with Canva
This article covers editing an image within an article record using Canva.
Before you start: Make sure you've connected your account to Canva. See Getting Started with Canva in Evolved Office for one-time setup steps.
Steps
- Go to your Articles library.
- Click the article you want to edit — this opens the main info form.
- Look for the image slot(s) on the article. Depending on the image format/size, you may see multiple Edit in Canva launch buttons.
- Click the Edit in Canva button for the image you want to edit.
- The Canva editor will open with your image loaded. Make your edits — add text, logos, graphics, etc.
- When you're finished, click the Evolved Office icon at the bottom of the left-hand navigation in Canva, then Save.
- Choose whether to:
- Save as a copy — check this box to keep your original image untouched and create a new version, or
- Overwrite original — leave the box unchecked to replace the existing image with your edits.
- Once published, your edited image will appear in that image slot on the article — and will also update in your Asset Manager.
Tips
- Articles can have more than one image slot (different formats/sizes: 754 x 300, 360 x 200, or 189 x 253, heights are all variable), so make sure you click the Edit in Canva button for the specific image you want to change.
- For general Canva editor tips (browsing your library, image types, etc.), see Getting Started with Canva in Evolved Office.
- The same image, if used elsewhere, will reflect your edit in the Asset Manager too, so double check whether you want a copy or an overwrite if the image is reused in other places.
- You can switch to a different image or design entirely while inside Canva — see How to Browse Your Evolved Office Library from Within Canva for details.
- Works with both free and paid Canva accounts. A few advanced photo tools (like background remover) require a paid plan.
- For help with specific photo tools (cropping, filters, background removal, etc.), see Canva's Photo Editor guide.
